What better way to entertain an audience than singing? And I really bet on Dancing.
I’m a huge fan of competitive dance shows (but not much for So You Think You Can Dance) and especially when it’s from foreign countries.
But which of these two dance its way better on stage? I’m gonna spill some of my opinions.
Paula Abdul’s live to dance is amazing. No, it’s just that America got amazing talents.
There were eye-popping scenes, a bunch of cutesy, excellent routines, original dance moves and a lot more. The set was also fabulous, from the stage to the judges’ lounge.
It was more or less in level with Got To Dance.
But what I’m concerned about is the judging scheme.
We all know that Paula’s fame started out as a cheerleader who successfully made her way to highly sought-after choreographer. In the show, during the semi-finals, she cuts in to help or assist the choreography of each semi-finalist. Intervention is the word. As a result, she become predictable to giving gold stars. She helped them during their rehearsals and giving them a red star would mean what? A credibility minus in her part or yeah, the contestants just didn’t held their best high enough?
Also, I can see her so sweet and soft. While Kimberly was strict and firm (even in Got To Dance), and same goes for Travis Payne. She often give gold star which I think it’s not deserving.
On the other hand.
Got To Dance UK is just as sensational as the other.
And from the two, I like this one better.
No need for me to state their differences when it comes to talents, entertainment and settings. They’re just a super wee bit close.
And what I like about this one are the judges. Adam Garcia is smart, though he only just tap dance (forgive my manner for underestimating) but he’s amazing when it comes giving off comments. And Kimberly? This girl has sharp eyes and precise tongue. One word is not enough to judge a dance act. And Ashley, simple, cool and speaks from the heart and excitement.
I watch Live To Dance. But I never skip, Got To Dance! 🙂
To get a few detail on my career: I’m hired as a layout designer in a publishing house called Xlibris. Out of line with my course, BS Computer Engineering, I decided to bet my future here since it’s what I like the most — photoshopping images and layouting for books/magazine.
Actually, I like to be a graphic artist (and or a photographer) but since I only had a self study on Adobe Photoshop, I’m not quite that confident that I’ll be able to get the position. And so, to iron out my plan, I applied for layout designer instead. Well, lucky and blessed me, I got the job!
Now, how do I layout myself to these new environment.
At first, I was happy that I’ll no longer get my ass in pain sitting at home doing nothing. I’m happy that I’ll be able to self-support myself from financial needs, also, at least there’s something I can provide for my family (I’m still single). Happy, happy, happy. But not pretty much.
And then, one day, in a conversation with a stranger somewhere between me and completing my requirements, a feeling struck me. Was it envy? Or disappointment? Fear of being alone, or uncertain? For that one question hit a nerve: Do you think your course was much needed in your job? I defensively replied: I don’t like my course anyway. But deep inside me, I think I’m lying.
I have a friend and we both don’t like our course. But I’m good at it while she’s just coping up. Here I am, the most likely to land a job in an computer-related industry yet chose to settle in a different path. And she, tried her best to get a computer engineering job.
Now, it frustrates me if I have made the right decision.
In the first place, I kept avoiding heavy programming job or tight engineering positions for that main reason — it’s not where my heart is. So why am I having this dilemma over what career path to make?
Fear. Yes, I think that word can live through it for months or years. I fear that I wont be able to grow. I fear that it might be a wrong decision to make. And I fear being left behind by my batch mates. Seeing them a professional engineers while me otherwise. Now, I’m starting to get sad. 😦
But for more reasons to fear, I only have one ammunition to make it out from this hellish dilemma: my job is a blessing. I asked for it, and He gave it to me. Just as I always say, past is no place to live. And the only thing to make my way out from a thick dense of jungle of fear is to start making a very nice path from where I am.
And this is how I’ll layout my work: A huge marquee of NURTURE on top, three-columns of ENJOYMENT, HAPPINESS, and CONTENTMENT, an inlet image of LOVE on the center, a footer of PASSION and DISCOVERY and footnotes of NO REGRETS.
Processing for documents like these are a bit tiresome and sometimes a pain in the neck. Especially when it’s your first and not knowing what to do just adds to that scary feeling of getting humiliated or failing. That’s why I’ll share to you my first application of a legal document — the NBI Clearance.
Filling for an application, well of course, happens in their main office. And here in Cebu, it is located left side of Cebu Provincial Capitol (aka Capitol). A walk of not less than two minutes probably will bring you there.
Note: Now you know where it is, better yet be veerryy early. I, for instance, arrived at 7am.
And what to bring: A valid ID (Driver’s Licence, Employer ID, SSS ID, Passport, School/Voter’s ID, etc.) but if you don’t have any of these, like me, you can bring along your NSO Birth Certificate (or some would prefer Police Clearance but I don’t know how to secure one). Also, bring one black pen, a water, a fan and an umbrella (the last three are just my friendly reminder).
Once you’re ready then I’ll shall take you in.
Crowd is the thing you should be expecting. And they’re pretty well scattered in the registration area. The REGISTRATION AREA is the first step of your application. But mind you, it’s very difficult to identify it for it only consist of a table. I mistook it for some information desk.
There you will write your name, present your valid ID for an acquisition of a form (color blue on one side and white on the other) and it has a priority number on it. You know what to do with a form. Fill it up!
Note: On the purpose, write only LOCAL or ABROAD. Local for working locally and the other is understandable. In this way it is easier for them to process your application. And also, fill the EDP number according to the ID you present. For example, you have a School ID, then write your School ID number, same goes for driver’s license, SSS number, NSO registry number, and so on. For newbies who use Birth Certificate (BC) with no registry number, like in my case, just have your BC photocopied. Furthermore, MAKE YOUR WRITING LEGIBLY, mind you it takes you to an advantage.
After filling it, you’re next for FINGER PRINTING. It’s a long table with five to eight lines, choose one, get your fingers printing and your almost half way there. Also, you need to pay the overpriced wet cloth for five (P5) pesos. It’s optional but would you refuse a better way of cleaning your messy fingers?
Then next will be the CASHIER. Here, that priority number written on the upper-left corner of your form will be used. An amount of one hundred fifteen (P115) pesos for both local and abroad are paid to the cashier (windows 1A/1B). But the price really differs depending to your purpose, I just haven’t get the chance to look closely over the price list.
Anyhow, once your done paying it, PICTURE TAKING comes next, just fall in line leading to window 2A. But if you have your 2×2 photo, then you can stick it in your form and directly pass it to window 2B, but hey, technically you’re already paying it. So would you rather give an extra possession? Your choice.
Note: For those who have the same case as me (like the no registry number in BC), it is in here that you’ll pass it along with the form and the receipt.
Then, take stand erect and say ‘YES!”. Now you’re done!
Congratulations! All you have to do now is wait for your name to be called.
Note: But wait, there’s this thing we all feared for — and that’s when your name get ‘hit’. It means to say, your record have encountered something suspicious say, you have the same name, your spouse got hit (not hit by a car or something but his/her record got hit), and just heard this, those who have a surname of LIM, UY, SO, etc. yeah Chinese, are more likely to get hit also. ‘Coz when you got hit, then you’ll probably scratching your head waiting for another 10 days for your record to be released.
So there goes my NBI Clearance 101.
I never really liked her (nor hated her) even when she was a contestant on a national singing competition show. She took home first place and lose the title to Sam Concepcion. But anyhow, this girl manages to soar above her rival and so as well, the show’s host who happens to be the country’s pop princess — Sarah Geronimo. Along her great achievements come a good number of haters, antagonists and fans, lovers as well.
So what causes these two to exist? Well, they will always exist since no one can really pleases all.
Even here in the Philippines, anti-Charice roams around too. Many find her hungry for international fame, which many also agree for that’s not what Filipinos are all about. Instead of being proud for her uplifting pinoy talent and slowly recognizing us to the world, some just can’t see that. And I can’t blame them for that, even I saw something different in her — ambitious and all. Envy doesn’t get out of the way either. Look at her, how famous she’s gone. Now eyebrows are starting raising up. How come she get such attention when she doesn’t even won the competition? Well, luck, no fate has its ways.
On the other side, fans are growing in numbers especially on her appearances in the hit musical series, Glee. This girl is sure gifted with such powerful voice. I too kinda slowly appreciating her. Singing her numbers in the episode gave me goosebumps, I bet it’s the same feeling fans of hers are experiencing too. She’d gone far from Oprah to Foster, and I just can’t imagine where her fortune goes where. Well, that’s Charice for you! I’m now looking forward seeing her career if it’s blossoming or withering. But withering? Too soon to speak for that.
I Am Legend. (Oh, this is not Will Smith’s) With its lead actress in the person of, the queen of Koreanovelas, Kim Jung-Eun, this will definitely be another to look forward to.
It talks about a woman who follows her dreams despite all the glittering wealth she has. Well, it wasn’t hers actually but belongs to her husband’s family. It was no easy wife work. She was treated no less than of a trophy display. She’s not allowed to talk during social functions, her mother-in-law is insensitive to her as a person, they were married just because she got pregnant, which after the marriage she got miscarriage. Her husband doesn’t support her. She’s here — only here. But when her younger sister needs a bone marrow transplant for her, she was forbidden to do so. And that triggered her request for a divorce.
The story now goes around her following embarking on her new career as a singer for the “Madonna Band”. How the story ends and how she acquired being the legend is up for you to see.
But what I’m very intrigue of is this one, My Girlfriend is a Guhimo (Nine-Tailed Fox). The lead are new to me, but that doesn’t bothers me. What I’m after is the romance and that mystical creature. How’s that supposed to stir things up!
Dae Woong releases the 9 tail fox out from his grandfather’s ancient painting by drawing nine tails in it. The creature wanted to become a human but was trapped long ago for such rumors that it eats human livers. Dae Woong meets a beautiful girl (Miho) after a life threatening fall without him knowing that it was the creature he freed. But soon enough, Dae Woong realized what he did and tried to keep her happy and hide from everyone that she’s a gumiho.
Miho saved Dae Woong from that tragic fall, and so she becomes his orb. He can’t date anybody except her. Moreover, the only way for Miho to become a human is to drink his blood within 100 days. As the story goes on, they fell in love, and what Miho didn’t say is that Dae Woong must die. A trouble brews around their love.
I wonder how these stories goes. Can’t wait! Only on ABS-CBN.
I’m a fan of Xyriel Manabat where I find her more flexible and great when it comes to acting. (Unlike, Zaijan Jaranilla, whom I find lucky having the cutest, most innocent baby face — but, hey, he’ll soon grow up. And he only got a mediocre of acting skills.) Anyway, in Agua Bendita, where Xyriel played the young Agua and Bendita knocked me off with her two contradicting roles. It must have been fun for her, and it shows on the screen. With such an age, she’ll definitely go on a long way.
And now she’s entrusted with another primetime lead role that, I hope, move us to tears, laughter and amazement.
100 Days to Heaven tells a story of a cold-hearted boss of a toy company, Madam Anna Manalastas, who’ll be played by veteran actress Ms. Coney Reyes. One day, the car she was in got exploded. And upon learning that she’ll live the next life in hell, she stunned the gate keeper with her negotiating prowess and was given 100 days more on earth to correct the things she wronged to. But with a twist, she will do it one more time as a 7-year-old kid.
Will she makes it in time before the days runs out?
And other thing I look forward to are the power house cast:
Ms. Coney Reyes
Jodi Sta. Maria
With the special participation of:
Ms. Gloria Romero
Malu L. Sevilla
Another inspiring series about chances and forgiveness that will surely touch our hearts. 100 Days to Heaven will be replacing Imortal.
Junior MasterChef Australia, the best competitive cooking show, (not that I know of any else), by kids I’ve seen by far.
I am already a fan of MasterChef US and watching this somehow carries out that influence. Well, anyway, the juniors still manage to put up a great show.
I was blown away seeing for the first time little chefs cooking like pro. And I can really see their passion through the food they serve — totally mind-blowing. It was exciting and thrilling, and the idea of aged 8-12 youngsters cooking professionally just adds in spicing it up.
My bet was on the 10-year-old Nick. He did show off a great start (and super cute too with his one-tooth smile) but it dwindles down as the show lengthens. I saw Isabella on the top 12 and thought, isn’t she a bit old for this? The same goes for the 12-year-old Jack. No wonder experience has gotten them as far as being the top 2. Pierre was good, possessing quite a technique there too but was still eliminated. I commend how the scoring system goes, it was fair and square. The same as well for the good roles of the judges — they’re of good help to these growing talents.
Every episode of the show was amazing, just like MasterChef US. And I can’t, like for MasterChef US, wait for their next season.
And another thing, Philipines’ ABS-CBN, a broadcasting network already acquired a franchise for Junior MasterChef and will be airing soon (with host Judy Ann Santos). But I quite doubt if it will get the same fate as the latter two versions in Australia and US. My analyzation resulted to the culture of food we Filipino have. Unlike Australia and US (or Europe), some countries here in Asia give a little mind in presentation. Our food talks about taste, so you wont be expecting a regal, lavish, sensual sight of good presentation of food — that’s for some countries here in Asia. I’m a bit off about the idea of our Pinoy Edition. But I hope it’ll prove me wrong. Well, I hope I can carry out the love as well to the Pinoy Edition.
With all the billion possibility of being born elsewhere, it is here in Cebu He find me pride.
Cebu, the Queen City of the South. I don’t know why they call it that some say, it is because of our so many beautiful beaches. Yeah, we have plenty of those since Cebu is a long island. Cebu is the first (and oldest) city in the Philippines. Cebuanos are very talented, intelligent and flexible. Christianity in the Phils. first started also in here. Cebuanos are the most difficult audience to please (in the Phils.). Cebuanos are welcoming. These are just the things amongst the reason why I love being a Cebuano. And to add a little more, we find it so blessed by the Divine Grace. Cebu is the home of Sto. Niño, the miracle boy Jesus.
Mindanao, the part below Cebu, was the home base of a terrorist organization. And gun wars is something you’ll get used to somehow if you live there. And Luzon, the part above Visayas, is the weather basket of the country. They’re the first one to get hit by heavy storms. Meanwhile, Visayas, where Cebu is located, is well very blessed enough with good weather, booming industry and good citizens.
Moving on, what I’m looking forward to is the new SM Seaside City. It’s not the biggest SM though in the whole Philippines but it’s their vision that excites me.
SM Seaside City Cebu will be a 4-level, circular-shaped, world-class retail mall with multiple anchors, including a two-storey SM Department Store and SM Hypermart, a 5-theater Cineplex and IMAX Theatre, an 18-lane SM Bowling and Amusement Center, and a food court flanking an ice skating rink. In addition, the mall will have over 800 food and retail shops, including international brands. Nah, it’ll probably be just another mall. hehehe But I love the idea though.
Looks promising right? 🙂
One of my weirdest movie — and to think I didn’t make it myself but the subconsciousness of my brain did. Yeah, a dream, one of my continuous movie-like dream. And hey, I’m one of the lead stars too. From since long ago, I’ve studied dreams, not that I take lessons for it but contemplate on what it supposed to mean. Dreams are unfinished thoughts, so when I dream of something suspicious I traced back the day what my activities are. And fortunately, some of which are plausible and some are yeah, unfinished enough. But there are some I really can’t dig it out. Well, dreams are just one of those that we barely can understand.
Anyway, I wanna share my dream. This is not the first, that I have a continuous movie-like dream. And by movie-like, I mean there’s a connection of events with plot, climax, story but I haven’t gone through to the resolution (my subconsciousness tells me that there’s a part 2. hehehe).
It started with me and a friend of mine walking up a hill adorned by gardens and benches. This is the entrance and exit to our school. It was the most beautiful entrance I’ve seen by far: the garden had the most rarest flowers grown, marble benches with overhead covers ran along the side, students chatting and laughing — groups and groups of them. At that time we were going back to our homes. The sky was bluer and looks closer than it appears, with fluffy white clouds sailing along the cool wind. No one ever thought of what lies ahead, everyone just felt the surreal feeling not until everyone was looking at the sky.
A commotion? Not likely, we joined the sky gazing and saw a half-moon-like image. It really looked like a half full moon. But with a gyrating glow around its edges. We kept on walking while observing it: the people then to the sky then to the path we’re going. We reached the city and the white plate on the sky was still visible. Until, it suddenly shoot laser fireball or something. It shoot rapidly which made us ran and took cover. Now people started to run for their lives. It obliterated almost it comes to see in its path.
We hide behind a huge building where a canal of mud was seen. Then an idea hit me, if we cover ourselves with mud then there would be less possibility we’d be identified by the aliens. We were not the only ones who swam the thick black mud, some had followed too. And, what am I thinking, it didn’t worked. By the looks of the situation, I know this is some alien invasion. The only thing that comes into my mind was to dwell somewhere underground.
Traffic was jamming the road. We need to open just one manhole to get underground. And then it hit — a wave of thin light highlighted the road. The next thing we saw, not a single car left standing. Anyhow, I feel responsible to make my friend live, is as if I’m liable for his life. So my aim is to get us underground. We were waiting for a right time, many were dead shot on the road. Smokes obscured the sky and it’s starting to get dark.
I managed to get a metal stick to open a manhole. And just when I was ready for it, something huge move behind the house. I couldn’t see it since we where somewhere in front of it. Desperate for a shelter, we wrecked open the wooden wall which later we found out leads to its basement. We throw ourselves in, there were others too. There was a small drainage but it was too small for a human to fit. And there’s no way we can dig it out down to the drainage system. I looked outside and saw a woman running towards our direction. Maybe she wanted to join us too. But as when he reached halfway, her eyes were filled with terror. The earth quaked! I searched my friend inside, he’s okay. I looked back at the woman and blood started to rain on her face. Then guts of human flesh started to follow — brains, eyeballs, kidneys, all sorts of human interior fell everywhere. Now this is insane!
There’s no time left, I have to get us down. I grabbed my friend and stepped out from the basement. But just then we reached outside, a green huge amoeba-like with mouth bigger than but had similarity with a crocodile breaks loose behind the basement’s floor. It torn apart human bodies and ate them? I don’t know, I didn’t look back. And now, the only thing we hoped for surviving isn’t as good as we’d thought. This things goes underground too!
Now there are only five of us left, we run to our dear lives and found a storage house. Everyone went in and disappeared up to the staircase. I close the door to make sure we wont get followed. But just as I was to get up, two humans grabbed one of my companions and dragged her down to a staircase leading to the basement. She was screaming hard, pleading to spare her life. But the two seems cold unable to give emotions. I know they’re not who they are. Their eyes were fixed and swelling out, and weird, they grin. I eavesdropped one of them asking, ‘is she the diamond?’ ‘No, she’s not!’ ‘Then kill her!’ Then her scream fade to nothingness.
What? A diamond? I ran upstairs and found a party with a bunch of them. They look normal, not that their faces look normal, but they acted normal. Only zombie-ish! My friend was nowhere to be found. Then I saw someone familiar, the boy who ran with us. I sneaked close, pulled him and locked ourselves inside a closed room. He’s different, he seems unaffected. What’s going on? I asked. You should probably join us, he said, since the diamond is already been taken to mother. What? What is this diamond? Then until I realized, isn’t my friend they’re referring to? Yeah, he might be since he’s the only one I couldn’t find. Now it makes sense why I felt so obliged to protect my friend. He might be now sacrificed or something. I have to find him and get him back. But would it be too late when they’ve already crushed the door in half? I quickly searched for a way out and found a small ventilation fan. He jumped towards me and somehow I managed to shove him towards the angry mob. Then hastened my way out through the fan.
I fell down outside, but it wasn’t a hard fall. I begun to see people, walking limply as if the aliens had all gone. Yes, they were all gone but I don’t think they’re not the one who’s inside these lifeless moving individuals. No point asking help from these people and I walked away getting myself out of trouble. A woman covered her face with a veil walked cross my path. She seemed suspicious. I followed her down to an empty street which leads to an old house. I didn’t know why but I yelled for her to stop, but she continued. I quickened my pace until I was about to grabbed her shoulder and she whispered enough for me to hear, just walk if you wanna live. So I stopped and just followed her.
Then, we stopped inside her house where another two women waited. They were emotionless. Then and there they enlightened me about my friend being the diamond. The humans were now just a costume to the horrid looks of these foreign race. Blank face and grin are the only two emotions these aliens shows, other than that will be considered real human which will be gutted out. The mother will come three days later for the sacrificial ceremony of my friend, and if I wanted to save him I have to plan it well.
Then I woke up. It was now 7:30 in the morning, and I wanted the show to go on. Damn it! See, my brain showed me a very intriguing storyline. A diamond? My friend was the diamond? Gutted out humans? There was still a story behind it but sadly I woke up. I hope it will be continued. But less likely to happen. Another amazing dream. Sorry, did I just bored you? I watched this video a week ago, would it be the one responsible for my bizarre dream? Try watching it for yourself!
